Denman Conservancy Association is pleased to host

 Erica McClaren, Conservation Specialist, West Coast Region, BC Parks

 Friday February 24 at 7.30 pm at the Senior’s Lounge.

Her talk will focus on:

  • Accipiters        Northern Goshawk, laingi ssp.
  • Falcons            Peregrine Falcon, anatum ssp.
  • Owls                Barn Owl
  • Western Screech-Owl, kennicottii ssp.
  • Northern Pygmy-Owl, swarthi ssp.

Erica McClaren has a B. Sc. in Biology and Geography from the University of Victoria and a M. Sc. in Wildlife Biology from Colorado State University.  She worked for the Fish and Wildlife section for the Ministry of Environment for several years assisting with research and inventory on rare birds including Peregrine Falcons, Northern Goshawks, Western-screech and Northern Pygmy-owls and Great Blue Herons. In 2004, she became an Ecosystem Biologist with the Ministry of Environment which involved trying to protect habitat for rare species in forested environments. Since 2012, she is the Conservation Specialist for the West Coast Region of BC Parks which includes the Gulf Islands, Vancouver Island, south-central BC coast and Haida Gwaii.
