Dennis Forsyth writes:

We are currently only feeding nectar and suet in our yard.  Both feeders are very close to a kitchen window to facilitate close-up viewing and photography.  Right now the suet is attracting the following:

Song, Fox, White-crowned and Golden-crowned Sparrows; Siskins; Chickadees; Nuthatches; Towhees; and Juncos.

Today (Friday, 7 April) I looked out to find a Yellow-rumped Warbler wrestling for a spot in the line-up.  I grabbed the camera and took a few quick shots when it was suddenly pushed off the feeder by what I sometimes feel is the handsomest bird in the neighbourhood, this Northern Flicker.  I think this is a female due to the lack of any cheek markings.  So that’s eleven species today at this one feeder.  Dennis

Northern Flicker, Colaptes auratus
Yellow-rumped Warbler, Setophaga coronata
