First New Bat House to have an Occupant(s)!
A rocket bat box in a sunny Hornby garden provides great habitat for bats! At this time of year, the most likely occupants will be male bats, resting up after feeding on bugs in the area. After mid-July, females and young bats start to venture from their birth-roost and check out the new habitat!
How did we know it was occupied?
A light-coloured cloth placed on the ground under the bat house, showed bat feces – indicating at least one bat had stayed for the day.
