BC Bats has released a summary sheet of the results of 2018 bat counts around the province – now on the DCA web site!.  Denman is well represented with 8 of the province’s 214 count sites on Denman. See bottom of page for full report.

Many thanks to the participating landowners.

Tracking the numbers of bats in buildings and bat houses is essential for knowing how our bat population is doing.  Bat populations are in need of monitoring and care because of White Nose Disease and the many other stress factors affecting being a bat in today’s world.  Like the bird counts, bat counts will help to promote bat conservation.  And counting is fun!  This summer we encourage everyone with bats in their area to count them and we can help with determining which species you have!
