Ivy at Lindsay Dickson Nature Reserve
On the 10 Year anniversary of starting control of English Ivy a short visit confirmed that the battle has not yet been won!
Quoting from Andrew’s report of that year:
“The ivy distribution was studied in January-March 2009. It is concluded
that there is one contiguous “patch” of ivy approximately 100 m long and with a mean width of
8m. The size of the colony is therefore estimated to be 800 m2.”
A few Ivy plants were noted to be surviving, especially those with roots tucked in amongst the rocks. Clipping off the stem and leaving the roots does not kill the plant.
