A New Broom Tool?

No, it didn’t exactly sweep clean. My aim was to see if my pick-adze would be a more effective tool for tackling broom plants too big to pull by hand. The alternative for this task is either the PullerBear described in the campain Day 10 post:

or possibly bypass loppers to cut the root below ground.

My finding: pick-adze is not conclusively superior to PullerBear. It took 3 to 5 strikes with the pick to find and cut the broom roots, and made considerable ground disturbance – a significant issue with broom as that usually releases more seeds to germinate. PullerBear’s downside is it is very heavy, but once it is in place around the broom stem removal is almost effortless.
