Fillongly Holly

Gorgeous day for walk at the beach and then a side trip to the Fillongly Meadow for the invasive Holly. Last January Denman Conservancy and the Denman ‘Pesticide Free’ group cleared Holly from a large area adjacent to the west end of the Meadow. The substantial piles of dead Holly are still present there.

In the previously cleared area I found and pulled a root that had resprouted. My catch of the Day.

I also observed a Holly bush sprouting around a stump that had been cut off at waist height at the edge of the meadow near the fountain. Such treatment is obviously not the solution.

Growing again from the root.

Regrowth of a Holly tree stump/root system.
